Nicolas de Graaff – Director, Accreditation & Welfare Assessment

Nicolas de Graaff has worked in the zoo industry for over 20 years, fulfilling roles in zoo keeping, collection management, exhibit planning and legislative compliance.

Since 2013 Nick has performed in the role of Accreditation Manager for the Zoo and Aquarium Association Australasia. Nick facilitates the development and implementation the ZAA Accreditation Program, which is primarily focused on the promotion of ‘positive’ welfare and is the primary reviewer when undertaking Accreditation site visits.

Nick works closely with the Standards and Accreditation Committee (SAC) to support members with their animal welfare endeavours. In the office, Nick works to support members professional practices in animal care and welfare. Nick holds a Bachelor of Science (Biology) and is an Associate of the Massey University Animal Welfare Science and Bioethics Centre.
