Our team is committed to positive experiences for our visitors and our animals, and we are looking for a team member who is keen to make a meaningful contribution to our natives programme and bringing the wild into Nelson.
The role is focused on work with our New Zealand natives, including our species that are part of our in situ conservation programmes. This job will contribute to the zoo’s conservation achievements in the Nelson0-Tasman region. As a small site, cross-training is required across our range as is a willingness to be dynamic and work well within a team. Preference will be given to candidates who can demonstrate a track record of contributing to a collaborative team environment and having a positive attitude.
An ability to work outdoors in all weather, and to be active throughout the day doing physical work, is essential. Candidates should have previous working experience in an accredited zoo, or have a degree in a relevant field of expertise. Minimum qualification is completion of the Unitec Captive Animal Management course.
This is a full-time permanent position rostered over a 7 day period at 40 hours per week. The role requires working on weekends and some public holidays, as the zoo is open seven days a week every day of the year except Christmas.
