A giant Tyrannosaurus and towering Apatosaurus are among 19 life-sized and life-like dinosaurs which have taken up residence at Perth Zoo.
The dinosaurs designed by a Perth company arrived as part of a new exhibition, “Zoorassic Park at Perth Zoo” opening at the Zoo March 12, 2016.
The exhibition will include 11 dinosaur models never seen in Perth before including the biggest dinosaur to have ever been displayed in the Southern Hemisphere, the Argentinosaurus which measures in at 18 metres long and 9 metres tall.
Each dinosaur has been paired with an animal in the Perth Zoo collection to provide important wildlife lessons. A host of Dinosaur Keepers and Dinosaur Docents (volunteers) will be educating Zoo visitors about the many characteristics the prehistoric creatures share with today’s amazing animals, but reinforcing that extinction doesn’t have to be one of them.
To understand their story is to understand the need to protect today’s species from the same fate.
The exhibition will be complimented by an Instagram competition and specially created events including and dinosaur family movie nights to reach a broad spectrum of the community.
