It’s awards season for zoos!

It’s awards season and ZAA-accredited zoos have been showcasing their excellence as finalists and winners in several categories!

In the South Australian Tourism Awards for 2021, Adelaide Zoo was named winner of the Major Tourist Attractions award for the fourth time, and the won the Premier's Award for Service Excellence. Monarto Safari Park snapped up the Voters' Choice Tourism Award for the Experience and Service category, and silver in the Tourist Attractions award. They will now go on to represent South Australia at the Australian Tourism Awards early next year.

 

The Australian Reptile Park took home four awards from the 2021 Central Coast Business Awards including:

  • Outstanding Employee - Zac Bower
  • Outstanding Business Leader - Tim Faulkner
  • Excellence in Business - Australian Reptile Park
  • Outstanding Young Business Leader – Amanda Woodbine

They will now continue through to the State Awards!

Australian Reptile Park accepts Central Coast Business Awards

 

Taronga's Wildlife Retreat in Sydney, which is a finalist for the Unique Accommodation Award in the NSW Tourism Awards.

 

After receiving the ZAA Conservation Award for their National Kiwi Hatchery, Rainbow Springs were excited to also become a finalist in the Tourism Industry Aotearoa Conservation Award. The Conservation Award is sponsored by the Department of Conservation (DOC) and recognises a tourism business that embraces kaitiakitanga (guardianship) and protection of our natural, built and cultural resources for the benefit of current and future generations.

 

Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park was announced as a finalist for Ecotourism in the Victorian Tourism Awards. This category recognises ecologically sustainable tourism businesses with a primary focus on experiencing natural areas and entrants foster environmental and cultural understanding, appreciation and conservation. Good luck for the awards ceremony in February Moonlit!

 

Taronga Conservation Society Australia is thrilled to be a three-time finalist in the 2021 NSW Tourism Awards. Taronga Western Plains Zoo is a finalist in the Major Attraction category, meanwhile Dubbo’s Zoofari Lodge and Sydney’s Wildlife Retreat are both finalists in the Unique Accommodation category. The NSW awards will also be held in February so fingers crossed for Taronga!

 

Wellington Zoo were honoured to have won the Toitū Envirocare Environment Award at the New Zealand Tourism Awards 2021. Their commitment to the environment is at the heart of their mahi at Wellington Zoo. As a progressive zoo, they’re constantly looking for opportunities to improve their systems, from their work with external suppliers through to the Zoo Shop.
