Membership of these groups is open to full individual Zoo and Aquarium Association members and to non-members working in Association institutions. There are currently nine groups:

Typically each group meets annually or biannually, and members are in regular contact through email distribution lists.
Membership of these groups is open to full individual Zoo and Aquarium Association members and to non-members working in Association institutions.
As a member of a Specialist Group you will:
- Join a network of people working in the zoo and aquarium industry that share similar interests to yourself.
- Meet your counterparts at zoos and aquaria throughout the Australasian region and work together to tackle issues that concern the group.
- Be able to communicate through the email distribution lists to other members of the group to share and exchange ideas.
- Be invited to attend the biannual or annual meetings of the group.
- Be able to contribute to the actions of the group, for instance newsletters, manuals etc.
